Luís Peixoto is one of Portugal’s most distinguished performers of traditional string instruments, such as the cavaquinho and the mandolin.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with artists including Júlio Pereira, Ana Bacalhau, Dulce Pontes, Virgul, Sérgio Godinho, and Vitorino. In 2017, he released Assimétrico, marking the beginning of his solo career. In 2021, he released Geodesia, an acoustic album centered on the mandolin and enriched by international collaborations. The album received widespread critical acclaim from publications such as World Music Central (“superb”), NSF (“creative and virtuosic”), and Time Out (“rare beauty and sensitivity”). He has received several awards, including “Best Original Composition” (Jumping Bits, 2011) and “Best Folk Album” (Assembly Point, 2011; Trim, 2014) at the 11th and 14th Prémios Opinión in Galicia.
